This March Digiday will host two of the biggest events in the publishing and advertising industry.

At the Digiday Publishing Summit Europe in Milan, you can meet the representatives from various leading European media companies such as Bonnier News, Schibsted or Freeda Media who will discuss the incorporation of insights to build products around audiences. While at the Digiday Publishing Summit in Vail, media experts from NBC News, The New York Times and the Washington Post will present the transformation of the advertising landscape and many more exciting topics.

1. Ane Sharma
UX Researcher at Schibsted

Ane Sharma is an experienced UX Researcher working for Schibsted, Scandinavia’s largest media group with over 150 digital brands and services in more than 20 countries. By conducting diverse tests and analyses, she has identified the specific needs of various target groups and gained a profound understanding of Schibsted’s audience.

At Digiday Milan, she will present Schibsted’s new news app, created specifically to target younger audiences which are hard to reach for traditional media companies.

2. Julian Childs
Managing Director EMEA at Business Insider

With over 15 years’ experience, Julian Childs has a wealth of knowledge regarding the international media industry. He has previously worked for globally operating companies such as CBS Interactive and CNET Networks.

As one of the first employees for Business Insider (BI) in the UK, he was significantly involved in the expansion of BI in the European market. Last year he was part of BI’s enablement of buying inventory programmatically across all European editions and the unification of international audiences into one tech product to streamline their monetization process.

3. Emma Elford
Director of Creative Solutions at The Telegraph — Spark

Emma Elford works for The Telegraph Media Group since 2011. At the Telegraph Spark, the creative commercial department of the Telegraph, Emma and her team work on delivering integrated and targeted advertising and editorial solutions. The aim is to maximize their client’s value through the best use of the Telegraph portfolio.

In Milan, she will lead focus group sessions discussing hot topics in media such as the monetization of programmatic and the hype around audio.

4. Ciara Byrne
Director of Business Development at Condé Nast international

Before her shift to Condé Nast International, Ciara Byrne worked as a sales and business director for companies including Google and Condé Nast Britain. There she built up an extensive knowledge base about advertising and ad tech.

During her discussion, she will talk about the company background, risk evaluation, and the opportunities regarding the launch of Vogue Business, an innovative B2B newsletter-type service for the fashion industry.

5. Jessica Bulthé
Data Scientist Digital Advertising at Mediahuis

Jessica Bulthlé has a masters degree in psychology and a background in research and data analysis. Her qualification allows her to understand the value of data and how to use it for successful advertising.

At Digiday Publishing Summit Milan, she will discuss how sales and analytic teams can work together to put data successfully into action to drive revenue.

6. Dominic Carter
Group Chief Commercial Officer at News UK

Working for over 20 years in the publishing sector and for more than 10 years at News UK, Dominic Carter has witnessed big changes in the media industry over the years. He is an experienced advertising veteran and knows how to prosperously grow advertising revenue for both print and digital.
Serving as a chief commercial officer, Carter’s mission for the future of News UK will be the alignment of print, digital, video, and audio to create a cross-platform offer to acquire more advertisers, especially from the digital sector.

7. Geoff Schiller
CRO at PopSugar

With over 10 years in publishing, Geoff Schiller is a veteran of the media industry. Passionate in shaping strategies to grow sales revenue and building up partnerships, he has worked at global companies such as Hearst Digital Media, People Magazine or Evolve Media LLC.

Since he started in 2016 as PopSugar’s CRO, he has pushed forward with the transformation of PopSugar from a publisher to a lifestyle brand. At Digiday Vail, he will discuss how to expand advertising revenue with new income sources.

8. Nick Rockwell
CTO at The New York Times

Nick Rockwell combines both, big technological knowledge as well as a deep understanding of the publishing and tech industry. Next to his work in leading positions at industrial giants such as MTV Networks or Condé Nast he is a passionate advisor for various businesses.
At The New York Times, Nick Rockwell revolutionized the use of technologies to widen their service range. These enabled the path to The Times paid content programme, its apps, and the underlined payment system.

9. Nick Ascheim
SVP at NBC News

With more than 20 years in the media industry, Nick Ascheim has extensive expertise as a content and business strategist in product, sales, and monetization. He has worked with a number of organizations including the BBC, The New York Times, FoxNews.com and ABC News.

He is skilled in the integration of programmatic selling of advertising in the media and entertainment sector. At NBC he involved with the development of the new streaming news service “Signal” targeting the younger generation.

10. Michael Finnegan
President at Atlantic Media

Michael Finnegan is a passionate strategist and business developer with experience as a management consultant in the fields of corporate growth and operations.

During his move to Atlantic Media and into the media industry, he worked as COO, CFO, and SVP of Business Development prior to being elected as President in 2016. His strengths lie in the area of digital analytics and in using technologies as levers for revenue and audience growth.
